Sex Addicts Anonymous

As a fellowship of recovering addicts, Sex Addicts Anonymous® offers a message of hope to anyone who suffers from sex addiction.

Through long and painful experience, we came to realize that our compulsive preoccupation with sex was causing severe adverse consequences for us, our families, and our friends, and was causing our lives to become unmanageable. Despite many failed promises to ourselves and others, and despite repeated and determined attempts to change, we discovered that we were unable to stop acting out sexually by ourselves.

Many of us came to this realization when we started attending SAA meetings. In that setting we heard stories similar to ours and realized that recovery from our problem was possible. We learned through the SAA Fellowship that we were not hopelessly defective.

Sex Addicts Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other so that they may find freedom from addictive sexual behavior and help others recover from sexual addiction.

Membership is open to all who share a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior. There is no other requirement.

SAA is supported through voluntary contributions from members.

We are not affiliated with any other twelve-step programs, nor are we a part of any other organization. We do not support, endorse, or oppose outside causes or issues.

The basic principles of recovery practiced by SAA are found in the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are grateful to AA for permission to adapt its Steps and Traditions to sex addiction, making recovery possible for us.

SAA Groups

In SAA, sex addicts meet on a regular basis, in small to medium-sized groups, to work on their recovery based on the Twelve Steps. If you think you might be a sex addict and want to seek recovery based on the principles of SAA, you are welcome to any meeting (even those labeled “closed” are open to you). Meetings are listed in the meeting guide. If there are no meetings in your area, you might consider forming your own meeting; the SAA Group Guide contains suggestions for this. SCISAA offers a $200 contribution to help new meetings in our area get started; to learn more, email in**@****aa.org.

Our fellowship is open to women and men, regardless of age, race, religion, ethnic background, marital status, or occupation. We welcome members of any sexual identity or orientation, whether they are gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, or transgender.

The Southern California Intergroup of SAA

The local Intergroup is comprised of representatives from SAA groups in Los Angeles and the surrounding region, including the Inland Empire and the High Desert. The general purpose is to pool funds to more effectively reach out to sex addicts, operate committees to organize outreach, plan local events, establish local policies, provide a forum where groups can network with other groups, exchange meeting information, and discuss information about fellowship-wide issues. The Intergroup meets on the first Saturday of each month at 3:00 PM on Zoom, and all members are welcome. To receive meeting notices, agendas, minutes, and other SCISAA announcements, subscribe to our bulletin.

What SCISAA does:

Get involved. Each SAA group is encouraged to elect a representative to the Intergroup. Members can also help by answering the information phone line, supporting prisoner outreach, or volunteering at events. To learn more, email in**@****aa.org.

Support the Intergroup. SCISAA is fully self-supporting through contributions from groups and members, and 55% of contributions after expenses go to the ISO of SAA. Contributions are welcome on our Donations page.
